Story competition winners.....
Hi boys,
Well done to each and every one of you who sent in a story for me to read. I was blown away by the imagination and creativity that you have shown. You all took great care to use correct punctuation, capital letters and neat handwriting. I really enjoyed reading the problems that arose in your stories and the solutions you created for them. A super job by all!
Since you all did such a great job, I am going to send a gift to every boy who entered the competition. It is a well deserved little gift to you.
I will have your gifts in the post and on the way to you soon :)
I hope you are all enjoying Active Schools week. Looking forward to reading your exercise journals. Have a wonderful weekend and a huge well done to all of you!

Story Competition
Hi boys,
This week I am going to run a competition for a written story. I will allow this competition to run a little longer than normal because you will need to spend more time gathering your thoughts, editing your piece and perfecting your handwriting. The due date for this competition is the 7th of June.
With this competition, you are allowed to write a story of your own choice. It could be a fairytale, diary entry, true story, action, adventure ... ANYTHING. I am looking for neat handwriting, title, clear beginning, middle and end and I am also looking for perhaps a problem that occurs in your story and the solution you created to fix that problem. Make the story interesting. Remember, if you have people talking in your story, what do you need to use? Yes...apostrophes!
Best of luck with this competition. Make it your own. Be creative and think it all through. I am really looking forward to reading your stories.
All the best,
Ms. Colleran.

Nature Art Competition
Hi boys,
This week's competition is a bit more creative. On your walks or when you are out and about you should start collecting some bits of nature like twigs, leaves, stones, flower petals and so on. When you have the chance, I would love for you to create an art piece with the items that you collected. You can leave them in their natural state or you could paint them. It is totally up to you! I am really looking forward to seeing what you can come up with. Let your imagination run free and enjoy it. Look at the pictures below for some inspiration. Send your pictures to me when they are finished to [email protected]
I will pick a winner at the end of next week and will send out a gift in the post to you. Best of luck!
Have a brilliant week,
Ms. Colleran.

COMPETITION TIME!!!!!
Hi boys, so as part of next week's English plan you will be asked to fill out a recipe template with a recipe of your own choice (scones, cake, buns, anything). The recipe that is written with very clear steps, neat handwriting and all information needed will be the winner. I will then bake that recipe and post a picture of my efforts. The winner will also get a prize in the post for their super work. Remember, make all steps clear. Don't have me asking myself this question - "What am I supposed to do now?"
I am looking forward to seeing all your recipes and I am even more excited to bake one of them! Please send your recipes to [email protected] and if you do make the recipe yourself send on some photos too.
Good luck boys!

20th April - 24th April 2020
Hello boys,
Welcome back to our class blog. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and continued to practice social distancing, washing your hands and minding your family. I'm looking forward to hearing about all the wonderful experiences you had over the last two weeks with your family. If you are particularly proud of any activities, work, art, baking or anything that you worked on please send me an email telling me about it all or even a picture :)
I kept myself very busy over the Easter break with painting, gardening and going on lovely walks with Teddy and Lily (within 2km from my house of course). The weather has been gorgeous so I hope you have been out in your gardens enjoying it as much as possible!
When you are taking a break from the beautiful sunshine, I have some work that you can get through to keep you busy. As always, what I put up here on this blog and on Aladdin are just suggestions. If you have any questions at all about any of the work please email me at [email protected]
I hope that you will be super duper excited to know that I am giving you a new Irish verb this week. It will follow the same format as the other verbs we were working on before the school closure. I will write all the verbs out in the way we did before as a reminder. Try to see any patterns in the endings of the verbs and let me know if you figure any pattern out :)
Click on the picture above to get the work for the week.
Have a fantastic week boys!
Ms. Colleran.
Cúla 4
Cúla 4 are putting on Primary school lessons in the same way as the RTÉ School Hub. It will run every day at 10am (an hour before the RTÉ School Hub). This would be a wonderful opportunity for the boys to continue their Irish learning through stand alone Irish lessons and also Maths, Science, Music, Geography and so on. Below is a timetable of the upcoming week that Cúla 4 will be doing.
Welcome!
30th March 2020
Welcome to all boys and their parents to our new class blog!
I hope that all of you are safe and minding each other at all times. I can't express how much I wish we were all back in the class room as normal with you boys asking me (repeatedly) "When is PE teacher?", "Don't forget the handball teacher!", "You said Ye again teacher!". I am missing all of you very much.
I hope that this blog will connect us through pictures or videos that you wish to share about how you are spending your days. I might even post a photo or two of Teddy and Lily for you :)
Please send any pictures or queries about work to our class email [email protected] and please put your name in the subject line so that the correct class teacher can answer your email.
All homework will be posted before the start of each week.
The work set out is a guideline only. You, as parents, are the primary educators of your children and you may choose to complete alternative work.
Additional homework suggestions:
Exercise: Joe Wicks on YouTube has a wide variety of workouts available and is updated daily. You can also walk or jog (within 2KM radius). It is vital that you continue to get fresh air and exercise.
Helping at home: Help around the house – dishes, mopping floors, cooking (if safe to do so) or just making your bed are great ways to help at home.
Reading: Be sure to continue reading throughout the temporary closure. You can read to parents, siblings or even by yourself. RTE has also launched “School on TV” starting Monday 11-12 on RTE2. This might be useful for ideas or just to change it up.
It is a difficult time for all and therefore do not feel under pressure to get all the work completed. There are now a variety of websites such as CJFallon, Edco and folens which offer free access to curriculum books which may be useful - I will link these in the Resources section of this blog. .
Have a wonderful week and take care.,
